All about me!

The how, the when, the where, the why.

My name is Chani and I'm a self-confessed kimchiaholic. I have been obsessed with Asian cuisine since I was about thirteen years old and have spent countless hours educating myself on the ingredients used, their proper uses, the cultural importance of different dishes and as much as I could possibly learn about everything else involved.

I first tried kimchi in 2014 and immediately loved it. A few months later I made it for the first time. It was delicious but I did make a few mistakes. Over the years I have been making kimchi for myself, honing the recipe, and am still just as obsessed with it as I was in 2014.

I had planned on selling my kimchi one day but didn't have the means to rent a professional kitchen or the time to dedicate myself to having my own business.

In early 2020 I decided to move to South Korea to teach English for a year however COVID-19 cut my plans short and I had to return home to the UK. Luckily, in my absence, my parents had opened their own pub shortly after my return the UK was plunged back into a national lockdown.

I now had access to a professional kitchen and the time to dedicate myself to my own business and in late 2020 'Kimchi Baby' was born.

I am passionate about bringing authentic Asian cuisine to the UK while also educating the British population on the importance of the food they are enjoying.
